Uematsu Masataka (植松雅孝)
Masataka UEMATSU (October 2, 1687 - November 4, 1730) was a Kugyo (top court official) during the mid Edo period. He attended the Imperial Court to serve mainly two consecutive emperors, Emperor Higashiyama (113th) and Emperor Nakamikado (114th), and moved up in official rank to Shosanmi Kunaikyo (Senior Third Rank, Minister of the Sovereign's Household). His father was Masanaga UEMATSU, who was Sangi (councilor). He had a son, Yoshimasa UEMATSU, who was Sakone no chujo (Middle Captain of the Left Division of Inner Palace Guards).
He had an adopted son, Takamasa UEMATSU, who was Gon Chunagon (a provisional vice-councilor of state)
His initial name was Masayasu. He was conferred peerage in 1691. He celebrated his coming-of-age ceremony in 1700. Thereafter, he held Ukone no shosho (Minor Captain of the Right Division of the Inner Palace Guards) and Sakone no chujo (Middle Captain of the Left Division of Inner Palace Guards), and was subsequently conferred Jusanmi (Junior Third Rank) in 1719 and ranked as one of the Kugyo. He changed his name to Masataka in 1726. He was appointed to Kunaikyo (Minister of the Sovereign's Household) in 1728 and administered general affairs of the Imperial Palace, but soon started suffering from illness. He resigned from Kunaikyo in 1730 and died in the same year. His age at death was 44.
